MIRROR MONOLITHS

I worked with the National Park Service and US Department of Agriculture to place ten feet tall mirrored sculptures in some of Arizona's most famous parks to create visuals for A R I Z O N A’s latest album release campaign. I developed the project from 2022-23, when I was A R I Z O N A’s creative director throughout the entire roll-out.

With over a billion Spotify streams, A R I Z O N A is a major band that's played on some of the world’s biggest stages, including the main stage at Coachella. During a 10 day shoot across Arizona, I directed a music video and created hundreds of other visuals for their year-long album campaign, many of which included these mirror monoliths.

After I designed these mirror monoliths, we drove across Arizona with them in tow in an 18 wheeler, stopping to shoot them in US national parks like Cathedral Rock National Park in Sedona and The Teepees in Petrified Forest National Park. Cars could only go so far, so we had to hike into each remote location carrying the monoliths by hand.

Whenever I'm building a world for an album campaign, I always develop a recurring set of symbols. For this project, two of those elements were triangles and mirrors. The land art I made for the campaign features hundreds of cascading pyramids, and these monoliths are also made out of triangles. Each one has three mirrored sides.

MIRROR TOMBSTONES

We custom made mirror tombstones to echo album lyrics in tracks like "Die for a Night" and "Graveyard". We wanted people to imagine their reflections in the tombstones so we could show we’re all heading to the graveyard, one step at a time. We filmed them for the music video, and we used this photography for the album cover and vinyl packaging.

MIRROR MONOLITHS

I worked with the National Park Service to place ten-feet tall mirror sculptures in famous Arizona national parks to create visuals for A R I Z O N A's album campaign. I led creative across the project as the band’s creative director.

After I designed these monoliths, we drove across Arizona with them in tow in an 18 wheeler, stopping to shoot them in national parks like Sedona’s Cathedral Rock. During this 10 day shoot traveling across the state, I directed a music video and created hundreds of other visuals for their year-long campaign, many of which included the monoliths you can see below.
